My 1st Time at the Summer Solstice in Times Square!
Wow! What a way to start my Summer AND celebrate International Yoga Day! It had to be 3 or 4 Years ago when My Wife & I was walking in Times Square on a beautiful day & seen a huge Yoga Class in the middle of 42nd Street. I was soooo interested & this was before I even attended ONE yoga class. I wasn't even familiar with Yoga but I knew I was interested to learn more about it.
Then, every year after that, I seen photos about how the event happened AGAIN & yet, I missed it again. Then, 2 Years ago, I started to attend Bryant Park Yoga and I fell in love with Yoga as a whole. It's the only thing that brought me real zen & balanced out my chaotic life. I knew that now that I know about all of the wonders that comes with Yoga, I had to finally experience Summer Solstice. So, I added it to my Bucketlist! I signed up for the email notifications and prepared to register. Once the registration was open, I signed up for the 1st class (7:30AM) and that was it! I was going! Would you believe I didn't wake up in time? I missed the class I signed up for & was too lazy to get up and walk-in for any others. I was bummed for quite a while. I even attended the Wanderlust Festival for the 1st time late last Summer and KNEW 2018 was the year for me to FINALLY join the Yogis bringing in the Summer doing Yoga in the middle of Times Square!
Although, I went to bed 2 in the Morning Monday Evening, I already registered for the 1st Class AND this will be my last Summer in NYC so I wasn't making ANY excuses this time around. I woke up at 6 AM & was out the door 45 Minutes later. The closer I got to 42nd Street, the more I kept telling myself "I really made it! I really did it!" & Guess what? It was raining! All the more reason to show UP & show OUT! & it was everything I could've imagined!
So many moments of reflecting, praying, looking up at the sky, deep-breathing & god-thanking I did during that Hour long class led by Douglass as looker-ons in suits on their way to work stood in amazement that we could so something like this. How did we have the time? & in the rain? in Times Square? This early? I LOVED IT! How can we NOT? Why would we NOT do this? Why wouldn't they do this? They should! It's the best thing in the world to fine time to center yourself. I can go on & on but I'm still burned out from my long day Yesterday AND have to get ready for my 8 hour work shift in 20 minuted but I just needed to share this.
Did I mention this was my 1st time doing Yoga since my Myomectomy?
Ha! Timing is Everything!
