Is There a Such Thing as Being Too Late to Return To College?
This post is inspired by the incredible Graduates who have flooded my social media these past few weeks! You are exceptional!
So, As my High School graduation was approaching, I decided to go to College in Atlanta. I wanted to move away from NYC, attend an HBCU and be apart of a Sorority.
So what did I do? I applied to schools only in Georgia, from my first to my last choice. Unfortunately I didn't think it through because when I was invited for in-person interviews periodically throughout the application process, I realized I couldn't afford flights to keep going back & forth to Atlanta from NYC and back. I really should've thought that through.
So, I ended up going to Monroe College (the Bronx Campus) and graduating with my Associate's Degree in Business Administration. In the first semester of my Bachelor's Year, there were mix-ups and misfortunes with my Financial Aid, so I was booted out of school MID-SEMESTER. Talk about devastating... I was distraught. So much so, I went to to obtain jobs in the Midtown a Manhattan Area.
Can y'all believe that was 2009 & now it's 2017 and I have yet to return? I'm so disappointed in myself for allowing so much time to pass. It votes by faster than we expect. Now, I've just turned 29 and I'm determined to return to school for my MBA!
But I have doubts. Is it too late? Is it unnecessary? Am I too old? Of course, these questions sound ridiculous when I read them aloud but they're definitely my thoughts. I always say I wish I can go back to my early 20s and finish out school, attend a sorority and have that legacy.
Either way, I have a school information session that I've recently attended for my Bachelor's Degree in Business & guess what?
I'LL BE RETURNING TO SCHOOL THIS SEPTEMBER OF 2017 TO OBTAIN MY BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN BUSINESS & I am ECSTATIC!
What are your thoughts? Your school background? School goals? School regrets?
Tell me about it in the comments below here or on social media.
